Steyn City celebrates another world class facility with its lagoon

When Steyn City first launched to the market, the developers promised investors a lifestyle like no other. With the opening of The Steyn City Lagoon powered by GAST Clearwater™, the award-winning development is moving closer to fulfilling this aim

Steyn City CEO Giuseppe Plumari notes that, from the outset, the development has distinguished itself by offering residents an investment not only in real estate, but in lifestyle. “We’ve always tried to create a residence without compare – a little bit of extraordinary, every day. This is a place where you truly can live your best life,” he observes.

The Steyn City Lagoon certainly lives up to this aim and brings a coastal lifestyle to the development. Now, residents can take full advantage of Johannesburg’s sunny summers. Facilities include pedalos, SUPs, kayaks, water slides, beach volleyball, beach-style sand pits and a zero depth water feature perfect for toddlers. In addition, there is the Laguna kiosk serving out beach-style treats like gelato ice cream and cocktails.

The Lagoon caters to the many residents who enjoy Steyn City’s orientation towards a lifestyle rooted in wellness and leisure, too. Measuring an impressive 300 metres in length, swimming just six lengths is the equivalent of 1,6 kilometres, making it ideal for triathletes and serious swimmers.

The development’s partnership with GAST Clearwater™ to launch the lagoon is a continuation of its quest to offer residents the very best. “Our partnership with GAST Clearwater™ means that our residents can enjoy swimming in chemical free, clear crystalline waters whenever they wish,” Plumari notes.

GAST Clearwater™ is similarly pleased by the partnership. “We’re very proud of this project, making it possible for Steyn City residents to enjoy the fun of the coast without driving to the sea!” says Dr Kevin Gast, chairman of the GAST Group. GAST Clearwater™ can be built in and around any property development and adds significant economic and social value to the developer. In addition, breakthrough green technology makes it possible to create facilities of this extraordinary size.

“Without compromising on sustainability, GAST’s clearwater bodies of water are cost effective. They require little maintenance and little in the way of chemical and energy requirements, too,” Dr Gast says. Founded in 1961, GAST operates in over 36 countries worldwide. It provides breakthrough water purification and water treatment technologies.

Steyn City launches its lagoon

The opening of the lagoon came hot on the heels of Steyn City’s recent opening of their seven star Ultimate Helistop. The Ultimate Helistop offers residents and non-residents the opportunity to charter a flight for their convenience and luxury. This augments the vast array of amenities on offer, like an 18-hole Nicklaus design championship golf course and clubhouse. Other features are a world class Equestrian Centre (with its own clubhouse), indoor aquatic centre, fully-equipped gym, outdoor exercise stations, a 45km floodlit promenade for running and walking and 50km MTB trail.

Says Plumari, “Our goal is to create the very finest lifestyle not just in Gauteng or even South Africa, but in the world. As our ongoing additions to the development show, we are very serious about attaining this objective. We are proud to be building a space where South Africans can relax in a secure environment, rekindle their connection with the outdoors and make new memories.”

Wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth has already noticed Steyn City Properties’ efforts towards achieving its goal. The firm recently rated Steyn City as one of the top 10 lifestyle estates in the world for 2021.
