The EAAB has extended the compliance period to finalise and catch up the required annual CPD points for the 2020 CPD programme to 31 August 2021.
This is as a result of a technical glitch in the EAAB system, which has caused a delay for estate agents to access the MyCPD portal and acquire their CPD 2020 verifiable points before the initial deadline of 30 June 2021.
Under normal circumstances, the estate agents have up to 31 March of every year to obtain their yearly CPD points, however, this year the period was extended for 6 months in order to allow estate agents who have been affected by the delay, a further opportunity to comply with the CPD programme requirements.
Estate agents are, in terms of the Education Regulations, obligated to undergo continuing professional development and attain 60 points over a rolling cycle of three years. For the past 5 years, the CPD programme has been conducted in two different platforms which are ‘contact sessions’, where estate agents attend events physically, and E-learning where estate agents could do their CPD online.
Due to the raging Covid-19 pandemic, the EAAB is unable to rollout the usual venue-based CPD programme. In an endeavour to ensure that the CPD programme is undertaken, the EAAB will conduct the programme via the E-LEARNING platform. Under normal circumstances, estate agents are given a choice on how to obtain their CPD points but unfortunately this year things are going to be different under the current pandemic we are all facing. The decision to conduct CPD via the E-LEARNING platform was premised on the need to find a safer and better way to provide services to the industry and also to minimise the risk that contact sessions and crowded places can bring to the lives of the estate agents and the EAAB staff.
